About the author

Jonathan White was born in the United Kingdom, graduating from the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, with a 1st class honours degree in Systems Design. A couple of years after graduating, he looked to Malaysia for adventure and went on to spend almost six years of his life living and working in Malaysia –allowing him to pursue his real passion for travel – which has included trips to Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia and Australia to name but a few.

Jonathan has worked in the IT industry for over 19 years, becoming a Chartered Engineer in 1998. During his career Jonathan has enjoyed work-related travel (in addition to Malaysia) to America, Spain, Hong Kong and more recently India. Before leaving the UK, Jonathan was the Product Development Director for Sunrise Software Ltd (based in Surrey), where he was responsible for architecting their newest product for the IT Service Management sector - Sostenuto.

With a growing interest in Bulgaria, Jonathan felt that there was a lack of information about buying property in Bulgaria. So, whilst on a flight from Sofia back to London, he decided to set about writing a book that would help others through the process – and hopefully dispel some myths along the way.

Jonathan also contributes real estate articles to magazines, including Quest Bulgaria and Vagabond, and is interviewed regularly by industry press, and the Financial Times. Jonathan was last quoted in the Financial Times in an article on Varna in July 2008 - click here to read the article.
